Movin' On Up

I have my placement for next year....and as of right now (things may change, you never know), I am going to 5th grade! Yep...Movin' On Up!

I've taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th before...I did enjoy teaching 5th, but that was probably about 9 years ago. I have nothing in terms of unit binders, guided math/reading items...nothing, the little bit I do have is (of course) not aligned to the curriculum! So I will be blog stalking, internet surfing, pinteresting, and so much more...of course after CRCT :) And guess what...you all get yet another classroom reveal next school year!!!!

Which brings me to the question of the day, I want to learn a little more about my followers...so let me know:

1. Where are you from?  2. What grade do you teach (if you are a teacher)? 3. Are you having to make any changes next school year?

Hey girl,
I am teaching 5th grade now too and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. It's funny because when we left Emmanuel I only wanted kindergarten. But after teaching that for 4 years and having my own little one at home, I THOROUGHLY enjoy my "grown up" 5th graders. If I can help you with the transition in any way, let me know.

Hi! I am always curious about my followers so I thought I should play along! I teach third grade in Washington state. It's a small district- Title 1 school. Next year I will go to second grade and then bring that group up to third! Good luck in fifth grade next year!

Hi! I've taught third grade for the last 14 years and first grade for the year before that. I'm in O'Fallon, Missouri. I'm curious about how you said you received your placement. With tenure, we only move if we interview for a different position so I'm staying put. :)

I teach K-12 vocal music in a small town in Northern Illinois. The only change that will happen in my schedule is if I can rearrange the format for 6th grade and add in 5th grade choir. Teaching K-12 is tiring but I love the variety and the fact that I know what my students are learning at each level.

fI am a Title 1 Reading Intervention teacher this year. I've taught grades 1-3 the last 15 years. This was a change this year and I'm really loving it. BTW, I'm in Southern California. :)

I teach 3rd grade in rural NW Missouri. This is my first year teaching. Like you, I am moving up next year! I'll be following my 3rd graders (awesome class, yay me!) to a 4th grade eMINTS classroom. I am excited...it's exactly where I always envisioned myself.

Hi! I'm a 3rd grade teacher in Massachusetts. I've taught 3rd grade for the past 4 years, and I taught 2nd grade for two years before that. No major changes coming up this year (as far as I know!) other than trying to make better use of my awkwardly designed classroom! =)

Hi
I teach a 5/6 class in Queensland , Australia. I really am enjoying my 5s. Have only ever taught 5 as part of a composite class. Our school year ends in December but I'm hoping for a 6/7 next year.

I teach third in a Title I school in rural west Tennessee. This is my second year teaching. Not sure what next year will bring. There are some concerns about our numbers, so I'm just hoping for a J-O-B! :)

I teach first grade in a small town in Illinois. Our first grade team has a teacher retiring so we will get a new teacher next year. Interviews have been done and we are anxiously awaiting to see who will join us. Our school will also get two new second grade teachers and a new early childhood teacher! Personally, I'm staying right where I'm at and planning to remodel my classroom! :)

Hola from California:) I have been teaching kindergarten for the past six years and have decided to make the move to 5th grade next year. I have been teaching for seven years and have only taught 5th and K. I am excited to go back to 5th grade but am a little overwhelmed. I have been searching and searching for blogs and 5th grade sights and your blog was the closed one I could find. Imagine my delight when I read that you were also making the move. I have been searching Pinterest, blogs and on and on...! I am looking forward to see what you find and am willing to share what I find in my search as well. Wish me luck and good luck as well.

I am a teacher in sunny California. Have taught all the grades there are, but lately have been in 2nd and 3rd. Dont know what the new year holds, yet, as our principal is leaving and a new one entering. We will see what the new year holds. Good luck in 5th. So many fun things to do such as a 50 State Fair :) Enjoy!

Just popping (piping?) in to say hello--I'm a total blog stalker of yours. I pin some cool idea from you at least once per month.

I'm in GCPS, too. I've K & 1st, and then taught ESOL for 9 years, and last year volunteered to leave (unstable suddenly) ESOL to do a 3rd grade Science/Social Studies departmentalized model. Next year I'll be a 2nd grade teacher, and a classroom teacher again for the first time in a decade (which is why I'm pinning/blog stalking like crazy--my classroom teaching muscles are going to need some remembering time/help/etc).

At any rate, I just wanted to speak up somewhere (heh, except of course I've chosen to do it months after you posted this) and say THANK YOU for all your stupendous ideas.

Good luck next year in 5th!

-Amy

I teach in a neighboring county to yours! I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th, which is my current home. I teach math and science to three different groups of 5th graders, and I'm working feverishly to prepare for the new CCGPS math standards! I love your site!
